Every Student Prepared

Before winning the election to become Montana’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2016, Elsie Arntzen was an elementary school teacher for 23 years. As your State Superintendent, Elsie has worked tirelessly to ensure that the next generations of Montana students are equipped with the foundations for success. She brought her unique perspective to Montana’s Capitol, where she has served for over a decade as a citizen legislator – representing the same district where she spent most of her career helping and educating at-risk youth.

Elsie Arntzen is asking for your vote to another term because she is committed to continuing her bold agenda to expand opportunities for all students, whether their path leads to higher education or directly to a career.

Better Solutions. Better Results.

Education for Careers

The pathway to career success does not always lead to higher education, and Elsie knows students deserve education options that prepare for technical and trade careers. Elsie will continue to fight for expanded Career Technical Education legislation, Work Based Learning, and stronger ties between the industries that need workers and the schools who must prepare them.

Making Schools Safe

School safety has been Elsie’s number one priority as she has successfully fought for legislative action. Not only did she secure hundreds of thousands of dollars for teacher professional development in school safety, Elsie also drafted and aided in the passage of the bi-partisan Student Safety Accountability Act which protects students from coercive sexual relationships with their teachers.

Expanding Opportunities

More and more students will need training in technology, regardless of career path. Not only will Elsie expand traditional trades programs, but she will also work to expand computer science and STEM programs. Elsie is focused on bridging the gap between Montana’s growing technology industry and the educational options offered in our schools.
